Safe Motherhood and WASH Project - SIMAVI
Safe motherhood and WASH project Kapilvastu was implemented in selected wards 2, 6, 7 and 8 of Shivaraj Municipality, Kapilvastu with support of Simavi, and the Netherland since1 January 2019 to 15 July 2022. Two local non-governmental organizations- Society for Local Integrated Development (SOLID) Nepal and Kapilvastu Integrated Development Services (KIDS) are implementing the project. SOLID Nepal is leading on maternal health whereas KIDS is leading on WASH and supporting to each other as a consortium in coordination with Shivaraj municipality.
The overall objectives of the project was to support women to practice healthy and hygienic behaviour during their pregnancy, delivery and after birth, by making use of sustainable and improved WASH and maternal health care services, based on their own free and informed choices. The beneficiaries of this project are the pregnant and lactating mothers of disadvantaged group i.e. Dalit, Muslims, Madhesi and Tharu as well as all women residing within wards 2, 6, 7 and 8 of Shivraj municipality. The project has adopted the principle of leaving no one behind. There are 43 mothers group from local community which was reformed on the basis of their participation in meeting with the support and mobilization of 39 FCHVs and social mobilizers.
